Bukhari reviews facilities for Kashmiri Migrants

Jammu, Apr 18: The Minister for Law, Justice, Parliamentary Affairs and Relief & Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari asserted that the Government is committed to address the grievances of Kashmiri migrants related to relief and other basic facilities.
The Minister was chairing a meeting to discuss the issues concerning Kashmiri Migrants, here today. The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Administrative Secretaries of Health & Medical Education, Social Welfare, Revenue and Law, Relief Commissioner, Chief Engineer PHE, Jammu, Director Health Services, Jammu, Director CAPD, Jammu, Mission Director ICDS, Special Secretary Relief & Rehabilitation, Director UDAAN, DC Relief Srinagar and Executive Engineer Relief Organisation besides other senior officers.
The Minister held extensive discussions regarding relief and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Migrants covering aspects related to relief, healthcare, water supply, electricity, ration, education and other basic amenities.
To ensure timely supply of monthly ration to migrants under relief category, Bukhari asked the concerned officers to ensure that ration is made available at sale outlets in the camps by 15th of each month and asked the Relief Commissioner to identify spots for opening of additional sale outlets to facilitate smooth and hassle-free ration distribution. He also directed the concerned officers to ensure distribution of ration by storekeepers with weighing machines.
It was decided in the meeting that the procedure for bifurcation of ration cards will be simplified and the relief organisation will devise a simple format which will be provided to the applicants.
Meanwhile, distribution of ration for the month of April 2015 would be issued by various depots of CAPD to the registered migrants under relief category on production of their old ration tickets.
Regarding issuance of fresh and revival of old registration cards, it was decided that the cases will be put up to the screening committee headed by the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, with IG, CID and Relief Commissioner as its members.
With regard to grant of RBA certificates to the migrants it was decided that Secretary Revenue, Secretary Social Welfare and Secretary Law alongwith Relief Commissioner will examine and assess the matter.
The Minister also asked Chief Engineer PHE to carry out on spot assessment related to the water supply scheme at Jagti Township in order to address issues that crop up during the rainy season
With regard to medical facilities available in the migrant camps, the Minister urged Commissioner Secretary Health & Medical Education to ensure adequate supply of medicines at these medical centres. Meanwhile, the Minister asked Director UDAAN to hold selection drives in the migrant camps, so that migrant youth are made aware of the scheme and avail of its benefits. He also asked the concerned officers to ensure that subject specific staff is made available at various educational institutes in these camps.
