Shree Jagannath Ji 'Rath Yatra' creates spiritual ambiance in 'City of Temples'

Jammu, Apr 18: The Rath Yatra of Bhagvan Shree Jagannath Ji was today taken out in Jammu, the City of Temples, in which thousands of devotees participated in the holy yatra with full religious enthusiasm. The devotees pulled the 'Rath' as per the tradition and sought the blessings of Lord Jagannath.
The yatra, enroute, was welcomed by large number devotees by chanting, "Bhagvan Shree Jagannath Ji Ki Jai", as well as bhajans.
The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Jammu Chapter today took out Shri Jagannath Rath Yatra under the supervision of Navayogendra Swami Mahraj who performed the religious rituals (aarti) to their Lordships after they were taken out to city in the shape of procession.
The yatra began from Kachi Chawni when the procession started with magnanimous welcome of Lordships of Shree Shree Jagannath , Bhagwan Baldev and Subhadra Devi.
Navyogendra Maharaj said devotees from all religions celebrate the chariot festival with tremendous enthusiasm. He said such festivals unite the society. He said Shri Jagannath Yatra was conducted in many countries across the world wherein millions of people come together to pull the chariot of Lord Jagannnath. "This Rath Yatra is an exhibition of the supreme mercy of the Lord, he said and added, "Bhagwan Jagannath along with Balram Ji and Subhadra Devi come on the road to shower their merciful glances upon all of us irrespective to colour and creed.
He said the Rath Yatra symbolises that the Lord came out in the streets to embrace his devotees. He also invited everyone to attend the yatra.
The City of Temples was echoed by the constant chanting of the holy names like "Hare Krishna Hare Krishna hare hare" which was followed by a number of tableaux depicting various stories related to Lord Krishna. During the yatra some artistic devotees were simultaneously seen making rangolis at equal distances on the Rath Yatra Path for the pleasure of their Lordships.
Various trading association and individuals have organized stalls of eatables for the devotees. Later in the end Rath reached Kashmir Hills Resort at around 7.00pm in the evening. Some foreign based devotees of ISKON were seen involved in deep ecstatsy of kirtan and were seen dancing in front of the Chariot of Lord.
