SMVDU organizes 3 days Workshop

Katra, Apr 19: A Three Day Workshop on 'Competence Building in Food Processing Industry in J&K', sponsored by National Mission of food processing (NMFP) GOI, was inaugurated in the School of Business, Faculty of Management, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, J&K on 18th April 2015.
The Chief Guest for the program was Khurshid A. Ganai, Finance Commissioner/ Secretary, Industries and Commerce J&K. The Vice Chancellor SMVDU Prof. S. K. Jain graced the occasion in presence of Kifayat Hussain Rizvi Managing Director JK SIDCO, Prof. D. Mukhopadhyay, Dean Faculty of Management and entrepreneurs in food processing of Jammu and Kashmir region. The workshop is organized to provide a common platform where all food processing unit entrepreneurs of J&K, various stakeholders and experts from academics and industry have come together to discuss the roadmap for growth and development of the FPI in the state of J&K. Beside this, the workshop is also to make entrepreneurs aware about the concept of competitiveness and its dimensions. The workshop is to infuse and enhance the entrepreneurial acumen and professionalism of the unit holders by focusing towards the benefits of technology, innovation, quality practices, human resource development etc.
The Vice chancellor SMVD University, Prof. Sudhir K. Jain, said that the food theme is very important and let us make food industry grow in J&K. Employment can only be generated in J&K if we will increase entrepreneurship and food processing is one of the potential areas for this. Prof. D. Mukhopadhyay Dean Faculty of Management expressed that the food processing sector can take ahead the mission for 'Make in India'. He said that the competence of this industry can be capitalized with efficient management for funds and food sector can be the made competitive by providing food at reasonable cost. Dr. Ashutosh Vashishtha, Director School of business expressed his gratitude towards JKSIDCO and National Mission Food Processing for providing the platform for the event and also to all the participants from various organizations for participating in the workshop.
