| Zulfkar reviews BRO progress of road projects in Poonch, Rajouri | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 20: Minister for CAPD & Tribal Affairs Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today reviewed status of ongoing road projects being executed by BRO in Rajouri and Poonch.
Director (Works) BRO, Chief Engineer and other senior officers of the organization attended the meeting.
The meeting dwelt in length on various road projects including Chingus to Rajouri road, BG to Jarawalli Gali, Surankote to Poonch, Bufliaz to Surankote, widening of Rajouri-Kandi-Buddhal road, restructuring of Kotranka Bridge besides construction of Kotranka bypass.
The meeting was informed that Budhal to Kandi road would be completed by November this year, besides the BG to Jarawali Gali road would be also completed before the onset of monsoon.
The Minister exhorted upon the authorities to expeditiously work on upgradation of various roads from Jammu to Poonch. He also asked for completion of widening work on Rajouri-Buddhal and Kandi road.
Expressing concern over dilapidated roads in twin districts, the Minister directed BRO to renovate and improve these stretches in a phased manner keeping in view long term feasibility of the same. He asked them to prioritize maintenance of these roads which serve as lifeline for the growth and development of the area.
Referring to roads and bridges damaged due to recent rains and floods, the Minister emphasized the authorities to pay special attention towards restoration of Kalai bridge, Poonch besides reconstruction of Kotranka bridge which has been temporarily restored. He also asked them to prepare a comprehensive project for construction of bypass around Kotranka town.
"Roads play vital role in progress and prosperity of area so these should be developed and maintained on sustainable basis," the Minister maintained. |
