| Medical Supdt, BMO, Pharmacist suspended for embezzlement of NRHM funds | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 24 : Government has suspended an in-charge Medical Superintendent, district hospital Rajouri, in-charge BMO, Kandi and a Pharmacist at BMO's office at Darhal for their involvement in the embezzlement of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) funds while they were posted at Darhal.
The suspension followed by an inquiry conducted against the said officials while they were serving in Darhal Medical Block in 2013-14. The suspended officials have been identified as Dr Mehmood Hussain the then BMO, Darhal, Dr Nissar Ahmed, the then Medical Officer at CHC at Thanamandi and Fiaz Ahmed, pharmacist presently at BMO's office at Darhal. Sources in the Health Department said that all the three were found involved in the misappropriation of NRHM funds to the tune of about Rs 20-25 lakh. Mostly the embellishment was made by making fraudulent bills for the purchasing of the medicines, referral of patients to district hospital, payment of Rs1400 for institutional deliveries (while the deliveries were conducted at homes), fake bills under Janani Sishu Surksha Yojna (JSSY), Janai Sishu Yojna (JSY) etc.
After several complaints an internal inquiry was conducted by the then Deputy Director , Dr Amla (now retd) Dr H Mir, Monitoring Officer NRHM, and Dr Harjeet in 2014 and the inquiry report was submitted .But to the reasons best known to Health Department Officials at Director's Office and other concerned higher authorities, the inquiry report was kept in abeyance to help the erring officials.
The investigation report reportedly was made public recently and all the officials in pursuance of Rules 31 of the J&K Civil Services (Classification Control & Appeal ) Rules 1956 and vide government order No 137-HME dt 22/4/15 were placed under suspension and were attached with the office of Director Health Services at Jammu. |
