SRINAGAR, Apr 26: For the first time in the history of Jammu & Kashmir the Congress party is all set to observe the first day of reopening of the Durbar Move offices here in the summer capital of the state as a Black Day. The decision to this effect was taken during a one day political convention held here. The convention was presided over by Pradesh Congress Committee President, Ghulam Ahmad Mir. Congress leaders, workers and activists would observe May 5 as a black day. The day coincides with the reopening of Durbar Move offices here. It was also decided to take out a procession up to the civil secretariat on the same day. "The Congress convention unanimously resolved to observe the 5th May 2015 as Black Day in Jammu and Kashmir. It was also resolved Congress workers of the valley will take out a procession and march towards Secretariat. They will protest against the unholy coalition between the two parties," said a Congress spokesman while quoting the PCC President. The spokesman said that People Democratic Party (PDP) secured votes to keep Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) out of power and the BJP did the same thing in Jammu. It was all drama played by both the parties to mislead the people, the spokesman said adding that the party would expose both PDP and BJP among the masses.
"The Congress party will expose both the parties for their anti poor and anti people policies. Congress will not allow them (PDP -BJP) to further mislead the people of Jammu and Kashmir. All the like-minded political parties as well as people are appealed to extend support to the observance of May 5 as the Black Day in the state," said the spokesman. During the convention the Congress leaders, workers and activists held threadbare discussions with regard to the holding of forthcoming Urban Local Bodies elections in the state. It was impressed upon the party cadres to gear up for these elections so that the party fares well in the elections across the state. "This one day convention of JKPCC expresses its deep concern over the politics of opportunism by the PDP in forging an unholy alliance with the BJP for the sake of power as a result there is a large scale resentment and unrest amongst the people of the State especially Kashmir region. The two ideologically opposite forces with no common agenda except sharing power, joined hands, ignoring the aspirations and wishes of their electorate," read a resolution passed during the convention.
The resolution read that PDP-BJP coalition has vitiated the atmosphere in the Kashmir valley by their contradictory decisions and rhetoric on various sensitive issues with no clear policy to deal with the situation. The recent incidents of militant strikes and innocent killings have further shaken the confidence of the people in and outside of the state about the stability of the security environment in the valley.
The threat to the stability of peace is adversely affecting environment of development and economic progress in the region especially the tourism industry which is the back bone of the economy of the State.
"The recent recruitment policy of adhocism without any direction or logic except greater scope for favoritism, nepotism and undue harassment besides depriving the downtrodden sections and categories of their bonafide rights has caused frustration and unrest amongst the educated unemployed youth who are agitating against this policy as well as against the out sourcing of recruitment in the police department to the private agency," read the resolution.
