Vijaypur, Apr 26: Former Minister and General Secretary of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Manjit Singh on Sunday demanded AIIMS for Jammu where people have been worst hit because of ailing health sector.
"People from various areas especially rural and far flung areas have to go to Punjab and Delhi for specialized treatment in the absence of specialized medical facility here," Manjit Singh said, while speaking before the people in Vijaypur.
He said that the BJP has compromised the desires and suffering of the Jammu people to rule the state.
"For the lust of power, they have forgotten the people of region who have faced discrimination. They have proved that BJP wanted to gain power not to help the people of the region where form they got 25 assembly seats with false promises," Singh alleged. Referring to the silence of BJP minister and contradictory statements by them, he said, in a report DyCM Nirmal Singh had stated that AIIMS was meant for Kashmir, while Dr Jatinder Singh befooled people informing that AIIMS was given for Jammu and it would be constructed in this region not in Kashmir Valley. From one party, he said, two different contradictory statements are coming and to whom, the people should consider true."Within BJP they have been facing anger over the issue of AIIMS. The people have been neglected," he said, adding threatened that if AIIMS is snatched from Jammu, they will launched united agitation from one platform with other organisations in the interest of the region. Regarding farmer's condition following heavy rains which destroyed their crops, he said, the Government has turned deaf ears towards their suffering as no relief or compensation was paid to them.
