MENDHAR, Apr 27: Mohammad Junaid (28) of Uttar Pradesh (UP), who was apprehended by army from the border Balnoi area of Poonch Friday last, is said to have gone "missing" under mysterious circumstances with both police and army claiming that "he is not with them". Junaid, a resident of Shapur in Varanasi, UP, was held by army at about 5.30 am on Fridaylast while was clandestinely moving towards the LoC in Roshni Nullah of Balnoi. He was brought by army to the Mendhar police station Friday evening, according to official sources. A 2-IC and an army doctor were accompanying him, the sources added. When Junaid was taken to the sub-district hospital, Mendhar, the doctor, who attended on him, said he was insane. This led to arguments between him and the army doctor, who claimed that he was perfectly alright, sources alleged. It was at about 9.30 pm when army officers returned to the Mendhar police station and demanded Junaid's custody. Police said when army had yet not handed him over to them, how could he be with them? Army later left the spot. Mendhar police station SHO Anzir Mir claimed that Junaid had not been handed over to them by army. Mendhar SDPO Surinder Choudhary said, :We want army to hand over Junaid to them." |
