Jammu, May 3: All Jammu Hotels & Lodges Association has expressed gratitude to the Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh and Industry & Commerce Minister, Chander Parkash for giving an audience to have a brief about the problems being faced by the traders and Industrialists. According to press release, Inderjeet Khajuria president, explained that the tourism industry is the backbone of Jammu's economy as more than 5 lakhs souls are dependent on the industry for their livelihood. Not only hoteliers but transporters, dhabas, tea-stalls, dry fruit merchants, barbers, washermen and even rehari walas are benefitted from the tourism industry. Main problems relating to department of PDD, Housing & Urban Development and Commerce & Industries were brought to the notice of ministers for their redressal, which includes Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) for which NBCC as per commitment with the Minister Bali Bhagat has to complete the work of providing connections to hotels and lodges situated in the old city, with the main STP at Bhagwati Nagar within two months. This commitment is to be obtained from the Chief Engineer and filed in the High Court through Advocate General, so that the rooms exceeding 19, which were sealed are unsealed to avoid harassment and continuous loss to the hoteliers; Completion of artificial lake in Tawi river by providing 17 diversion channels only then the lake can be commissioned; for retention of ISBT at General Bus Stand, Jammu a written orders are required by the office of Deputy Chief Minister to JDA to end this problem; and affording of all industrial benefits to the tourism industry. Besides, a detailed memorandum was also submitted to the Deputy Chief Minister, Industry & Commerce Minister, MLAs Rajesh Gupta and Sat Sharma (CA) for their perusal to make Jammu as independent tourist destination. The completion of ongoing projects was urged on war-footing within a stipulated time with no dearth of funds. The projects include Artificial lake at Tawi river; Mubarak Mandi Bahu Fort Cable Car project; Inter State Bust terminal (ISBT) & Multi-storied shopping complex with parking at General Bus Stand, Jammu; Mubarak Mandi heritage Complex; Golf Course at Sidhra; extension and upgradation of International Air Port, Jammu; Upgradation of Railway station, Jammu; construction of Parking lots in the entire Jammu city; Upgradation of Manda Wild Life Sanctuary to the level of national park and zoo of international fame; Upgradation and development of Shri Amarnath Yatra base camp at Bhagwati Nagar; development of Hari Singh Park with coffee house and Light & Sound system to host all culture programmes; excel world at Bhagwati Nagar; Water-cum-amusement Park at Bhour Camp; development of environment park and city forest at bye-pass; development of wet lands at Suriansar & Mansar and rehabilitation of Bird Sanctuary at Gharana; development of Ambaran Buddhist cite at Akhnoor; and Sohni-Mahiwal Lover cite at Hamirpur Sidhar (Khour).
