CAPD ration black marketing: 296 bags seized, 3 held | Police search on for absconding TSO | | M S Nazki Early Times Report
MENDHAR, May 3: Busting a racket involved in the alleged black marketing of CAPD ration, police today seized two truckloads of 296 bags of rice, sugar and flour and took into custody three persons, including a ration dealer, in this connection. Two truckloads of the CAPD ration were today despatched to Gursai for government ration dealer Mohammad Fazal but these changed the route and headed for Ari for their alleged sale in black , according to police sources. While these were being unloaded in the shop of a government school headmaster, someone called up police. Sources said by the time a police party headed by Mendhar police station SHO Anzir Mir reached the spot, one of the trucks (JK02R/1149) had been fully unloaded in the shop. It contained 62 rice bags, 24 sugar bags and 70 flour bags. All these bags were seized by the police raiding party but the trucker sped away, the sources added. The other truck (JK02K/3667), which contained 140 rice bags, was yet to be unloaded at the time of police raid. It was seized along with the rice bags, sources said. The ration dealer, who was arrested by police, allegedly told police that he had been asked by tehsil supply officer (TSO) Mohammad Khaliq to unload the consignment at Ari, sources informed. Khaliq now stands transferred to Kalakote. He already has three FIRs registered against him at different police stations in Mendhar. During the course of investigation, police detained Mohammad Kabir, storekeeper in TSO's office, and another dealer Koushal Kumar for their questioning. TSO, who was also required by police for his questioning in the case, was absconding, sources said. Mendhar police station has registered a case in this connection under section 409/109 of RPC. |
