Sinister moves afoot to trifurcate Jammu province | Chenab Valley, Pir Panjal | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 3: Sinister moves are afoot to divide Jammu province into three zones - "Chenab Valley region" consisting of Doda Kishtwar and Ramban districts, "Pir Panjal region" comprising Poonch and Rajouri districts and Plains of Jammu consisting of Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Udhampur and Reasi districts. The move, if allowed to be fructified, would help the votaries of Greater Kashmir, who have trying their best since 1947 to de-link the Muslim-majority areas from Jammu province and merge the same with the Muslim Kashmir. It would disintegrate the historic region of Jammu. There exists no such Valley as the Chenab Valley anywhere in Jammu province. It is non-existent. Similarly, it would be wrong to term Poonch and Rajouri districts as Pir Panjal region. The erstwhile Doda district, which was divided into three districts in 2007 by the Congress-led coalition government, and Poonch and Rajouri districts are part of the same mountain range. It is only the Kashmiri leaders' lackeys in Jammu province who have been seeking to play dubious games for achieving dubious objectives. They do not know what they are saying. They also do not understand the implications of what they are saying. They are only pleasing their Kashmiri masters. The most striking aspect of the whole situation is that those who used to call them nationalists till the other day have virtually joined the anti-Jammu forces in Kashmir. Only the other day, one such fake nationalist talked about the so-called Pir Panjal region and demanded that it be created as a free economic zone. "I want to make Pir Panjal area a business hub and this is possible but youth must come forward. Business cannot only change the fate of youth but also make Pir Panjal districts an economic zone," he shamelessly said in Rajouri. Earlier, his senior colleagues in the party had not only talked about the so-called Chenab Valley region but also brought it in writing that the party would focus on its development. It is time for all in Jammu province to join hands and defeat the sinister move of the fake nationalists. For, the division of Jammu province is not in the larger national interest. They should understand that the Dixon Plan and Musharraf's five point formula had also recommended division of Jammu province along the Chenab River as a solution to the so-called Kashmir problem. |
