New Delhi, May 3: A day after National conference (NC) in Srinagar Protested against establishing Separate Townships for Migrant Kashmir Pandits (KPs) in Kashmir, KPs responded by holding a demonstration at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi. They demanded that the state and Centre should take KPs in confidence before any decision on their return to Kashmir is taken.
Protesting KPs Put forth various Demands before their return to Kashmir which includes 'setting up a commission to probe the reasons which led to their exodus from Kashmir in early 90s and demanded that cases must be re-opened against all those allegedly involved in the killing of KPs at various places across the state during the peak of militancy in Kashmir right before KPs left Kashmir. KPs who had gathered in thousands had put on T-shirts and bands on shoulders and heads. Carrying placards and banners, they shouting slogans against the separatist leaders, demanded their arrest before their return to Valley. Some Young KPs carrying placards were demanding that Article 370 of the Constitution, which gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir must be abolished.
Slogans against Geelani and Malik were also chanted. Some Noted KPs who appear on TV Channels as Panelists like Ashok Pandit and Rashneek Kher while talking to media persons demanded that both state and central Governments should take Kashmiri Pandits in to confidence before any decision regarding their return to Kashmir is taken and ruled out the proposed strategy of state government to re-settle KPs in Kashmir.
Ashok Pandit said that he does not see any difference in previous and present government at centre as according to him he does not see any visible changes on the streets of Kashmir and he does not Trust the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir who according to him thanked Pakistan for allowing Peaceful elections in Kashmir right after taking oath as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
Many other KP leaders while ruling out proposed re-settlement idea of state government said that, authorities are unaware of the fact that every KP wants to return to Kashmir, therefore comments made by the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that only 10 to 15 per cent Kashmiri Pandits will choose to return to the Valley as most are well placed in various parts of the country are not based on facts.
Pertinently on the issue of Kashmiri Pandits return to Kashmir, NC on Saturday ruled out supporting the idea of separate townships for Kashmir Pandits during their Protest rally here in Srinagar.
NC General secretary and former rural development minister, Ali Muhammd Sagar said that during their previous NC-Congress coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir, nearly 3,000 Kashmiri Pandits were adjusted in Kashmir under various employment schemes, however said that NC will oppose the RSS agenda of creating separate colonies for Kashmiri Pandits in Jammu and Kashmir.
