Govt committed to bring visible change, meet aspirations of people: Kohli

Rajouri, May 23: Minister for transport, Abdul Gani kohli today said that the new dispensation in the state is committed to bring a visible change by fulfilling the expectations of the people.
"We are putting in every effort to ensure peace, progress and provide corruption free governance for which people have voted us to power" Kohli said while addressing series of public meetings at Narian, Solki and Kalakote.
Seeking people's cooperation in translating into reality the government's commitment to provide responsive and responsible governance, the Minister said that only public can ensure that the governance agenda worked out by this coalition govt is implemented on the ground in letter and spirit.
The People have to provide feedback to the government as to whether they are getting the much needed relief at all levels, he said adding that this would help to put the things right wherever required.
Reiterating the commitment of government for equitable development of every area of the state, the Minister said "Our main focus is on the upgradation of existing infrastructure to provide all basic services to the people, including better road connectivity, drinking water, education, health and public transport facilities.
He asked the officers of line departments to organise awareness camps in far flung and remote areas so that people can avail benefit of various schemes launched by for poor and needy people.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD ) , SDM Kalakote, , CEO , ,Executive engineers PDD,PWD,PMGSY and PHE, ARTO besides a large number of people and public representatives were present at the meetings.
Local representatives apprised the Minister about the demands and problems being faced by the people of their respective areas. The People demanded public transport facility, repair of connecting links, up-gradation of schools and adequate teaching staff, installation of new electric transformers, provision for new drinking water schemes, electrification of Bandigala area and enhancement of wages of coal mine labourers. They also demanded formulation of a committee to check irregularities in electricity bills.
Taking serious note of complaints about irregularities regarding electricity bills, the Minister asked ADDC to constitute a committee to look into the issue. He directed to report about the matter to his office at the earliest.
Responding to the demands of the people for better road connectivity, he said that premixing of Siot to Kalakote road is in process, while Kalakote to khwas road has also been prioritized under CRS.He directed the concerned departments to complete road projects, buildings, public utilities, lying of electricity and drinking water lines within stipulated time frame. He also directed for issuing notice to defaulting contractors for not sticking to time limits. Majority of public grievances were solved on spot by the Minister.
