3 -day Sudhmahadev mela from June 1

UDHAMPUR, MAY-23:- The district administration Udhampur today discussed the arrangements for the smooth conduct of 3-day Historical Sudhmahadev Mela scheduled to start from June 1. A detailed plan for arrangements was devised at a joint meeting of officers and representatives of religious organizations. The meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr. Angrez Singh Rana was attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Rajeev Magotra, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Chenani, Devendra Sharma, Tehsildar Chenani, Om Parkash Bhagat, District heads of various departments, Secretary Dharmrath Trust, members of local mela committee, prominent persons from Sudhmahadev and Chenani.
The meeting devised a comprehensive plan for making provision of drinking water, power supply, medicare, sanitation, security, transport, accommodation, repair of road, checking of rates of essentials and parking of vehicles etc. The PHE department was asked to erect adequate number of public points at the Mela site well in advance while Executive Engineer, PDD was asked to ensure uninterrupted power supply during Mela days. The health Department was asked to depute a team of doctors with ambulance and required medicines at Chenani, Sudhmahadev and Mantalai round the clock during the Mela days, while PWD was asked to repair the road whereever required besides put up temporary toilets at the Mela site and Mantalai for the convenience of pilgrims. Executive Officer Municipality was asked to maintain sanitation and proper cleanliness during the mela. Modalities for providing tented accommodation at Mela site were also discussed. Adequate deployment of security personnel at Mela site and enroute would be made by the District Police to ensure fool-proof security. The ARTO Udhampur would ensure plying of adequate number of buses from Udhampur and also ensure that buses having 52 seats will not be allowed to the mela site in order to avoid jamming enroute to mela site. A committee was constituted to keep a strict vigil on rates and quality of eatables. It was also decided in the meeting that Tehsildar Chenani, Mr. Om Parkash Bhagat will be the mela officer while Neib Tehsildar, Sudhmahadev, Mohd. Saleem will be the Assistant Mela Officer during the mela days
The ADC stressed upon the officers concerned to make coordinated and concerted efforts in ensuring their arrangements well in advance to make the mela a grand success.
