Jammu, May 23:A delegation of different Kashmiri Pandit (KP) organizations AIKS, JKVM, JKNM, J & K Study Circle, Koshur Samuth and some social activists had a meeting with the Chief Minister Mufi Mohd Sayeed here today. Many issues related to Kashmiri Pandits, their rehabilitation, day to day problems and betterment of community were discussed threadbare. Chief Minister assured of all possible help and assured that return of KP's shall take place in an honorable and dignified manner. A memorandum of demands was also submitted by different KP organizations to the J&K Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. In the memorandum it was written that ever since the ethnic cleansing of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley in 1989-90 , the governments in both, Centre and State, have done precious little to rehabilitate the displaced community in Kashmir, during its quarter century of exile. As a matter of fact, recent events in Kashmir have once again shown the separatists in true colors. Their opposing the return to Kashmir on one pretext or the other, have dealt a serious blow to the aspirations of the Pandits, who are determined to return to their land which has been their home for 5000 years. Differently organizations jointly said that state government has a constitutional responsibility to rehabilitate KPs in the Valley; separatists cannot dictate terms on this issue. Further, some measures which the KP organizations said, needs to be taken by the state government immediately are instituting a Commission of Inquiry into the whole issue of targeted killings of Kashmiri Pandits in 1989-90, and subsequent exodus from Kashmir. Another issue is implementation of employment package to the unemployed youth through various packages announced by the Government from time to time remain unimplemented, Reservation of seats in State's professional colleges for the displaced community, Financial Support to Small businesses besides other important issues. |
