| Trifurcation of J&K fraught with serious consequences | | | When the state President of Shri Ram
Sena,Rajiv Mahajan, demanded trifur-
cation of Jammu and Kashmir in case separatists were not deported to Pakistan,he was simply voicing his anger against the activities of separatists in the Kashmir valley particularly their new activity of allowing their supporters to wave Pakistani flags and raise anti-India slogans.
It seems that Rajiv Mahajan has become either frustrated with the activities of these separatists or he has felt enraged over the way these separatists demonstrate their pro-Pakistan sentiments and that too while living in a state that is part of India. State President, Shri Ram Sena, Rajiv Mahajan has asked State as well Central Government to take strict action against those who waved Pakistani flags in Kashmir, or deport them to Pakistan.His anger is quite evident when he has suggested to the state and the central Government to initiate measures that will not allow these separatists, their family members and their supporters to live in Jammu and Kashmir which is part of India. Rajiv Mahajan is sure of peace getting restored to Kashmir once these separatists and their supporters were deported to Pakistan.
Well Rajiv Mahajan seems to hold the policies of PDP-BJP coalition Government responsible for encouraging separatists for waving Pakistani flags.
His contention is not supported by facts because waving of Pakistani flags have been witnessed in the past in Kashmir.Yes,the only difference is that there has been more instances in recent weeks of waving of Pakistani flags whether they were waved during rallies addressed by Syed Ali Shah Geelani or during the foiled Eidgah chalo call given by Molvi Umar Farooq.
Hence it would be wrong to hold the coalition Government responsible for the increase in anti-India activities in Kashmir.And an enraged Rajiv Mahajan has demanded the creation of a "separate Jammu state" with Union Territory status to Ladakh.
This means that Shri Ram Sena is in favour of trifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir so that Jammu gets its statehood and Ladakh province enjoys a union territory status. Well Mahajan has made it clear that he and his organization are opposed to trifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir but what seems to have either motivated or provoked him to demand separate statehood for Jammu is his deep disenchantment with the activities of separatists in Kashmir.
It would be better for Rajiv Mahajan and his Shri Ram Sena to understand the serious ramifications or adverse consequences of trifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir.He should understand the purpose of separatists who ar e trying to demonstrate their anti-India sentiments.
First of all high polling percentage during the Lok Sabha and the Assembly elections has ostensibly unnerved separatists in the Kashmir valley because they have realised that their poll boycott calls failed to evoke any response from people in the state. Hence in order to make their presence felt and register their relevance in the political firmament in Jammu and Kashmir they are left with no other alternative but to carry out anit-India activities and encourage their supporters for shouting pro-Pakistan slogans and wave Pakistani flags.
Such activities allow them enlarge their support bank among those who invariably sit on the other side of the fence or those who are not prepared to join the mainstream political activities.
These separatists know it well that they cannot contest elections because for majority of them chances for victory seem to be dim.Carrying out anti-India activities helps them to receive moral,material and diplomatic support from Islamabad and other agencies in Pakistan. Hence Rajiv Mahajan should not feel upset or enraged over such activities of separatists and if possible Shri Ram Sena should galvanise the organization so that it is able to fight separatists politically. |
