Early Times Report

Jammu, May 24: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party today said it will extend full support to one-day Jammu bandh call given by AIIMS coordination committee in protest against shifting of the proposed hospital to Kashmir region.
"We appeal to everyone in Jammu to make the one-day Jammu bandh a complete success so as to send a message to the people in the corridors of power that injustice with the Jammu region will not be tolerated," JKNPP chairman Harsh Dev Singh said while addressing working committee meeting of the party. Singh accused the state and the Central government of ignoring the aspirations of the people of Jammu region.
"We will continue our struggle till the shabby treatment with the people of Jammu region does not end, be it the issue of shifting of AIIMS, the shelving of the artificial lake project and the new recruitment policy, we will continue our struggle," Singh said.
He said his party would hold agitations in every district headquarters of Jammu region so as to send a signal to the government that the people of Jammu won't tolerate injustice.
"The shifting of AIIMS from Jammu to Kashmir is an example of the discrimination with the people of Jammu and has also exposed the hollow promises of BJP which once claimed to be the sole representative of the people of Jammu," Singh said. The AIIMS coordination Committee, an amalgam of more than 70 religious, social and political organisations, has called for a day-long Jammu bandh on May 27 to protest the shifting of AIIMS from Jammu region to Kashmir.
The bandh coincides with the proposed visit of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to Jammu and Kashmir.
