Sack corrupt officials: DAK
5/25/2015 12:25:25 AM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, May 24: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today in a statement said it is shocking that as many as 100 government functionaries figure in the list of corrupt officials that has been prepared by various anti graft agencies.
These officials have amassed phenomenal wealth and assets through corrupt practices and dossiers compiled on them have evidence of their disproportionate assets and Benami property.
These graft tainted officials continue to hold their posts and enjoy preferential treatment.
President DAK Dr Nisar ul Hassan said that government should dismiss these corrupt officials from their services and seize their illegally accumulated wealth and assets.
In 2005 in a study by "Transparency International" Jammu and Kashmir was declared as second most corrupt state and by now must have qualified to number one as corruption is rampant at administrative, political and social level.
There is a climate of corruption in state and previous dispensations had turned blind eye to the existence of corruption. The previous governments had institutionalized corruption and bribes were paid to buy loyalties. State Vigilance Organization has registered 189 cases against 450 officials which is an underestimate as majority of corrupt state functionaries escape vigilance net because of their strong connections. Corruption has eroded our institutions and people have lost hope as graft in state has approval of system.
People have to pay bribes to state functionaries without which their services cannot be procured. People are deprived of development and equitable standards of living because of open loot of state exchequer at highest level. The present dispensation should live up to its mandate and public expectations and give common man a corruption free administration.
