You can't hoodwink us further, Jammuites tell BJP
'Jammu bandh on May 27 shall be historical'

Early Times Report

Jammu, May 25: BJP national spokesman Samvit Patra's statements on the party's alliance with PDP and its stand on Article 370 has not gone down well with the Jammuites who have asked the party to refrain from further hoodwinking them.
Patra, who was in Jammu on Sunday, told reporters that the BJP had no option but to go with the ideologically opposite PDP for government formation as the mandate given to the party had to be respected.
Regarding repealing of Article 370 in the state, Patra said it is BJP's core ideology but it cannot see the light of the day until the party gets two-third majority in the Parliament.
"As soon as we will get the two-third majority in the Parliament, we would start process on its repeal, we have not kept it on the back-foot, but for now have brought development ahead to give Jammu and Kashmir a good governance," Patra had said.
Lambasting Patra, JKNPP chairman and former minister Harsh Dev Singh cautioned the BJP to refrain from any further attempts to hoodwink and beguile the people of Jammu by its "highly deceptive and delusive statements."
Singh accused the "loudmouthed rabble rouser" of saffron brigade of "deceitfully taking the cover of lack of adequate numbers in the Parliament so as to ensure abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution."
The JKNPP chief deplored that the BJP was still indulging in treachery to ensnare the people of Jammu by saying that abrogation of Article 370 still constituted its core agenda and that it was unable to achieve the same due to lack of majority in the Parliament.
"If the saffron party was sincere it ought to have introduced a bill in the Parliament for abrogation of the said Article, notwithstanding the consequences rather than seeking camouflage under the garb of lack of majority," Singh said.
He also deplored that while Patra had taken recourse to the excuse of lack of majority on the subject of Article 370, his saffron counterparts of Jammu had used the idiom of 'status quo for respecting people's aspirations'.
He reminded Patra that the slogans of abrogation of Article 370 given prior to elections had squeezed in the 'Agenda of Alliance' to 'respecting peoples aspirations' which was salebale for both BJP and PDP.
"Unsure about themselves, the BJP leaders are making statements on Article 370 which are not only dichotomous, but the people are finding the same as highly nauseating, unsavory and deceptive," Singh said.
He also ridiculed the statement made by Dr. Jitender Singh, Union MoS, wherein he said that there shall be no compromise on the principles for which Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookerjee laid down his life. He said that the Union MoS must remember that the most prominent slogan of Dr. Mookerjee of 'Ek Nishan Ek Vidhan' which also formed the anthem of BJP was most pusillanimously sacrificed by the saffron party for the lust of power with BJP ministers openly using two flags and running the J&K coalition government under a separate constitution. He said that the BJP leaders who are satisfying their lust for power by forging the most adulterous relationship with PDP under the smokescreen of development and good governance must remember that people shall never forgive them for their gross betrayal.
Singh said that the Jammu bandh on May 27 shall be historical with all districts and tehsil headquarters of Jammu province observing complete shutdown.
