Channi Residents constitutes SCHAC to intensify stir against multi crore land scam

Jammu, May 28: To discuss the pressing issue of Multi core Land scam and , a general house meeting of all the residents of Channi Himmat was organised in the premises of Panch Mandir, Channi Himmat late on wednesday evening to elect a body to further intensify its movement against the land mafia and corrupt officers of J&K Housing board.
The meeting was held under the Chairmanship of P L Kohli (Retd. Addl. Director, Agriculture Department) and Ram Nath Sharma.
The main purpose of holding the general house meeting was to elect a representative body to further take up the issue of multi crore land scam on all front to expose the deep rooted nexus between land mafia and corrupt officials bent upon converting green strips and reclaimed land from 'Thanger Nallah' in to commercial sites and blatantly violating Master plan in violation of Apex court guidelines with respect to changing land use of natural water bodies. In hours long meeting, the senior residents representing all seven sectors of Channi Himmat Housing colony, unanimously authorised senior citizen PL Kohli to head the Save Channi Himmat Action Committee.
Kohli, a retired govt servant had previously spearheaded a peoples movement to evict large chunk of land from the clutches of land grabbers for the development of Green Field. During the course of the meeting several senior citizens raised serious concern over the manner in which green strips of land have been converted in to commercial sites by the officials of the J&K Housing board in violation of master plan of the Housing colony.
The residents warned the officers of J&K Housing Board against tampering with the master plan and also gave 15 days notice to the board authorities to identify the buildings raised on plots earmarked for public utilities such as community hall, hospital and college.
A unanimous decision was also taken by all the residents to move to the Supreme Court of India after a gap of 15 days in case the Housing board authorities failed to constitute a high level inquiry ahead of demolishing unauthorised buildings. On the occasion, PL Kohli nominated a social activist R N Sharma, resident of Sector 1 and renowned Professor Y L Gupta , resident of Sector 5 to immediately form various committees on sanitation, water supply, Power and other matters of public importance such as dilapidated condition of main road. The members of the Channi Himmat Housing colony also extended their gratitude towards sitting MD of J&K Housing Board Shafiq Ahmad Raina for reopening the transfer cases which were stopped by his predecessor as they used it as a tool to extort money from residents of Channi Himmat.
