BJP minister hurls abuse at PDP workers, apologises later | | | Asif Iqbal Naik

Jammu, May 28: Senior BJP leader and Minister for Public Health Engineering, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sukhnandan Kumar today allegedly hurled abuse at PDP workers who had assembled at Thatri to apprise the minister about the problems faced by people of the area. As per the details available with Early Times, PDP workers led by Rehman Kashmiri after hearing about the visit of PHE Minister to Thatri and Kishtwar assembled at Dak Bungalow Thatri. But instead of listening to them, the minister got angry and hurled abuses at PDP workers who later held a protest against the minister. "I came here with the hope that you will listen to our grievances, but you are no different than Saroori (former MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori) who had made us suffer during all these years" an angry PDP worker told the minister who left for Kishtwar without paying any heed to the PDP workers. Later, PDP workers brought the matter into the notice of senior party leaders. In the meantime, PDP workers intensified their protest, forcing the minister stop his cavalcade at Thatri once again while returning from Kishtwar and apologised to the agitating PDP workers. "I am sorry if my behavior hurt you. I regret and offer my apology," the minister told the PDP workers who were pacified and called off the protest. Sukhnandan Kumar was accompanied by MLA Doda, Shakti Raj, and MLA Bhaderwah Daleep Singh when the incident took place. The team was on tour of the Chenab valley to inspect various water Supply schemes in Prem Nagar, Bhella, Kandhote, Thathri and Dhrabshala. The minister directed officers concerned to ensure proper filtration and treatment of the drinking water before being supplied to the common masses. Minister also inspected various water supply schemes in Doda and Kishtwar and accorded sanction to augmentation of 3 stage Lift Water Supply scheme for Kishtwar district which will provide 4 lakh gallon of water to Kishtwar town per day in addition to already 4 lakh gallon supply. |
