Early Times Report

Jammu, May 28: Upset over unprecedented resentment among Jammu people against shifting of AIIMS to Kashmir, the party high command is learnt to have confessed that that some senior BJP minister in the coalition Government allegedly misled the Central Government on the issue.
According to the sources, two senior BJP minister in the Mufti-Syed -led coalition Government allegedly misled the Central Government as well as the party high command by strongly projecting Kashmir as more suitable place than Jammu for setting up AIIMS in the State. The duo intentionally compromised on the issue on the instance of powerful lobby of private hospitals in neighbouring Punjab, sources added.
This was the reason that the BJP national leaders as well as some ministers in the State Government initially sought to justify shifting of AIIMS to Kashmir Valley by claiming that Jammu would be compensated by further strengthening the Super Specialty Hospital and Government Medical College besides setting up IIM and IIT here.
In fact, sources said, a strong lobby of private hospitals in neighbouring Punjab, Delhi and Gurgaon was allegedly instrumental in depriving Jammu of AIIMS. This lobby has apprehensions that setting up AIIMS in Jammu would severely hit their business from J&K, which has been their major source of income, sources added.
However, the unprecedented support of Jammu people to the call for bandh on Wednesday during the visit of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has opened the eyes of BJP high command, which is learnt to have taken a very serious notice of the development following which misleading feedback by the local ministers also came into notice.
Sources said that before his departure to New Delhi, Rajnath Singh indirectly conveyed his displeasure over dubious role of some BJP ministers and hint that necessary action may be taken in this regard very soon.
