Overview of benefits available in ESI scheme disseminated

Jammu, May 29: Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Jammu & Kashmir Region, organized an awareness seminar on ESI Scheme at Association of Industries(AOI), Gangyal Jammu to disseminate the information about various provision of the ESI Scheme and to share certain latest changes brought therein. Deputy Director Sindo Ram gave an overview of various benefits available in the ESI Scheme and touched upon the provisions relating prompt registration of employees and payment of contribution in order to ensure benefits for the covered employees immediately when needed in any exigency.
He also apprised the participant about certain changes made in the scheme, the latest being the only option of payment of ESI Contribution by Net Banking alone. This was termed by most of the employers as nightmare since large number of employer were still not able to pay contribution even after lapse of time limit and demanded that the matter should be taken up with higher ESIC Authorities and Government.
Dr. Om Prakash, State Medical Commissioner (SMC) clarified that the matter would be taken up with the Medical Superintendent and assured that the secondary care treatment must not be refused to any ESI Beneficiary even on production of Temporary Card. He also stated that reference have also been made for consideration of provision of post facto referral in cases of accidents and life threatening emergencies.
The programme was attended by Rajesh Jain, President, Bansi Lal Gupta, Sr.Vice-President, S.B. Abrol, General Secretary, Vijay Sharma, Secretary, Sanjeev Vig, Treasurers along with number of members from employers and employees from noted industries and institutions such as bright industries, Sudhama Business Solution, Raks Food Pvt. Ltd., Plastic India, Sanjay Industry, N.V. Enterprises, K.L. Industries, Tawi Steel Industries, Bharat Chemical Ltd. etc. along with Madyal ji, Pradhan of Virpur. Dr. V.P. Mathur, and Dr. Om Prakash, State Medical Commissioners were also present along with Arvind Kumar, Regional Director, ESIC to provide opportunity of questions and answers for the participants.
