Jammu, May 29: Various Sikh Organizations of J&K under the banner of Sikh United Front J&K including Bhai Kanhiya Nishkam Sewa Society, AISSF, Sikh Naujwan Sabha, Sikh Welfare society and other intellectuals have strongly criticized the baseless statement of members of SGPB, Akali Dal Badal, Akali Dal Amritsar regarding the issue of delay in the Gurudwara elections. While addressing a joint press conference, S Avtar Singh Khalsa, General Secretary Sikh United Front J&K said that according to J&K State Gurudwara Endowment Act the tenure of the District Gurudwaras Parbhandak Committees is for five years but unfortunately the president J&K State Gurudwara Parbadhak Board has dismissed the elected DGPC Jammu without any fault. He asked the Chairman Gurudwara Board why he dismissed an elected DGPC Jammu which was elected in 2003? And further questioned that the Sikh Sangat also seek reply when all the DGPCs in J&K are working smoothly what prompts the Chairman Gurudwara Board to dismiss the DGPC Jammu vide Article 63B of Gurudwara Act for his direct personal interference to run the affairs of DGPC Jammu. "Some vested interests persons connected with the present Gurudwara Parbhandak Committee Jammu have filed litigations in various courts including J&K High Court in order to delay the Gurudwara Elections deliberately for their vested interests and have managed to get stay orders issued as and when the election notifications were issued by the Government, he said. "All these petitions were challenged by the members of Sikh United Front J&K, he said adding, "in response to this the Govt of J&K nominated a new DGPC Committee to look after the affairs of the State Gurudwaras headed by S Dalip Singh vide Article 63-C of Gurudwara Act, SRO No 357 in the year 2008 for a period of six months." After the completion of the above said period S Dalip Singh resigned from the post vide letter No.DGPC/197-200/2009 dated 28/04/2009, he said recalled past events and added the law department of the State nominated a new committee vide SRO-375 vide notification dated 19.12.2011 headed by S Mohinder Singh, Retired District Session Judge for running the Gurudwara affairs. However the same order was challenged by previous District Gurudwara Parbhadak Committee Jammu vide OWP No.D-1657/2011, CMP No.2305/2011/Caveat No.1426/2011 and 1427/2011 and got an interim order issued in their favour and refused to vacate the office of the DGPC Jammu. Meanwhile S Mohinder Singh - Chief Organizer of Bhai Kanaya Nishkam Sewa society J&K alleged that the working of the DGPC headed by S.Dalip Singh was dubious and cited example that a proof of misuse of funds of DGPC is a cheque No.043427 dated 28.12.2011 showing as paid to S.Manjeet Singh Secy.DGPC for legal expenses.
