Rajouri, May 29: Inhabitants of many areas in Rajouri district have been facing acute shortage of safe drinking water being supplied by the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department through its network/water supply schemes.
For the last few months several protests have been organized by the inhabitants of Darhal, Manjakot, Thanamandi, Kotranka, Rajouri, Dungi etc tehsils alleging that due to defunct water supply schemes they are not getting regular supply of drinking water .
While organizing a protest demonstration at Darhal the inhabitants of the area including Zia-ul-Haq, Mohd Mushtaq and others said, " For the last few days the supply of water to our areas has been snapped for the reasons best known to PHE officials/employees and despite several requests they seems to be in deep slumber and people facing many problems in collecting water from natural resources in ensuing scorching heat waves" . |
