Dissidents violate truce agreement, insist for adjustment in PCC as pre-condition | Emergence of another front in Congress not ruled out | | Early Times Report jammu, May 29: Refusing to abide by the truce agreement, the dissident faction in State Congress is still preferring to maintain distance from the PCC activities while the prevailing factionalism is seemed triggering more splinter groups within factions thus hinting at emergence of another front in the party in Jammu and Kashmir. No one from the dissident group attended the executive body meeting of the PCC at the party headquarters here even as the State president G A Mir had assured to accommodate the rebels in the organization very soon, sources informed. The PCC executive meeting was called to review the progress of ongoing membership drive. Despite assuring their participation, sources said that the executive members from the third front preferred to skip the scheduled meeting. By this, the third front once again made it clear that adjustment of rebels in the organization was a pre-condition for truce with the PCC president, sources explained. Earlier also, the dissident faction had skipped the tribute paying ceremony on the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at the PCC headquarters. It may be recalled that G A Mir had recently convened a meeting with the dissidents and forged a truce with the third front by assuring to accommodate them in the PCC very soon provided the latter would also join the mainstream party functions. Meanwhile, the high profile entry of some freshers in the party has triggered more groups in the faction ridden State unit of Congress thus creating confusion among the middle rung leaders. A function and public meeting in connection with launching of membership drive at Bishnah yesterday was an example in this connection. Absence of former minister Gulchain Singh Charak as well as his vete noire PCC secretary Shahsi Sharma was conspicuous in the function, which was organized by the latter's mentors but attended by Azad loyalists Yogesh Sawhney and Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, who belong to the former's camp, sources explained and predicted emergence of another front in the State Congress. |
