Reasi, June 29: A team of Legal Metrology department (LMD), Reasi under the supervision of Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Reasi-Rajesh Heera conducted market checking and charged Rs. 8000 fine from traders found violating the market regulation rules. The team inspected general stores, Mutton & chicken shops, karyana stores, fruit and vegetable vendors, rehriwalas, sweet shops in Reasi, Katra and Mahore. Seven traders were booked for violation of various provisions of J&K Weights and Measure (Enforcement) Act 1977 and Packages Commodities Rules and on pleading guilty were compounded on spot for Rs 8000. The Market checking was conducted in view of ongoing holy month of Ramzan as per the directions of Deputy Commissioner Reasi-Sushma Chauhan. Further the team directed all the traders to use only stamped and verified Weights and Measures instruments for business transactions and ensure that all the package commodities sold to the consumers must bear MRP, Package Date, Net Contents and Consumer Care Number. They also warned the unscrupulous traders to desist from using unfair trade practices to cheat the innocent consumers and also appealed to the consumers to remain vigilant while purchasing the commodities. |
