Upgrade, decentralize pediatric care: DAK | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, June 29: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today said that valley continues to function without an organised pediatric care in spite of promises and cosmetic datelines given by successive governments. "Even a decade after the temporary relocation to GB Pant Hospital, the promise of establishing Advanced Pediatric Hospital in Kashmir remains unfulfilled", President DAK, Dr. G M Mir said. He expressed dismay over the incompetence of the successive regimes in getting Kashmir a fully established centrally based pediatric hospital along with efficient pediatric care in peripheries. He added that it is irrational and unprofessional on the part of Government that they are keeping their eyes closed when all the stakeholders are pitching for establishing Advance Paediatric Hospitals in North and South regions also. "The dilly dallying tactics, lobbyism and lack of sound planning has led to the deferral of establishing of the pediatric hospital in Srinagar which is quite deplorable", Mir said. According to Mir, lack of tertiary care pediatric facilities in far flung areas is the main cause of infant fatalities. Government should establish tertiary care paediatric hospitals in north and south Kashmir to save precious human lives and lessen the burden on GB Pant hospital, the only tertiary care paediatric centre in valley as of now. |
