JAMMU, June 29 : Part of the 14-member Indian University team, two Jammu judo players, Shweta Thakur and Danish Sharma today left for participation in the World University Games 2015 being held at Gwanjhu in South Korea from July three to July 14. Before their departure for Delhi today, these judokas were felicitated and appreciated by the coaches of the Regional Coaching Centre, MA Stadium, here and office bearers of the J&K Judo Association for the distinguished achievement. Earlier, Shweta and Danish were selected for the India camp, considering their achievement at the All India Inter-University Judo Competition held under the banner of Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Thereafter, both of them were part of the recently held national camp and selection at Amritsar in Punjab. Among those present in the felicitation function included general secretary of State BJP, Munish Sharma, general secretary of J&K Judo Association, Vikas Gupta, Suraj Bhan Singh, Rameshwar Singh (both Judo coaches), Shiv Kumar and Suraj Sharma. "Both Shweta Thakur and Danish Sharma shall be reaching Delhi tomorrow morning to joint other team members. Thereafter, they will board flight to reach their destination in South Korea," senior State Sports Council coach, Suraj Bhan Singh told SAN. |
