Early Times Report Srinagar, June 30: Additional Sessions Judge Srinagar on Tuesday granted bail to a student of Kashmir University, a week after he was arrested by police for his alleged links with militancy. "It is evident from police report and as reiterated in the objections of the prosecution that applicant has been arrested as a mere suspect in case and he has not made any disclosure statement to the police. No recovery alleged to have been made from the applicant," Additional Sessions Judge Srinagar, S R Gandhi said, adding, " "In view aforesaid circumstances, keeping the applicant in custody would not be justified," the court said and granted interim bail to the student Muzammil Farooq Dar of Pulwama till July 6. Consequently, the court ordered release of Dar on bail against personal bond of Rs 20000 with one surety. "He shall not leave Kashmir Valley without seeking a prior permission," the court added. On June 25, a police spokesman had said that police arrested Dar, a resident of Gandebagh Pulwama for his links with militants. He was wanted in a case under FIR No. 90 of Police Station Rajbagh, the spokesman said. "Some students of the university disrupted classwork in the campus and tried to mislead other students saying that Muzammil was arrested for opposing Yoga on Sunday which is totally baseless and false," the spokesman had added. |
