Competition among BJP ministers to take publicity from Amarnath Yatra
7/1/2015 12:05:16 AM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 30: There is competition among BJP ministers to visit base camps and other areas to enquire about facilities being provided to the pilgrims of Shri Amarnath to get publicity but neither BJP nor affiliated organisations have shown concern about declining number of pilgrims during the last three years.
If one goes through the number of yatries, who have registered themselves for this year, it is really matter of concern that only 1.5 lakh pilgrims have so far registered.
Instead of encouraging pilgrims all over the country to have darshan of the holy cave, BJP ministers are more concerned about getting publicity and it was reflected over the way party ministers have been repeatedly visiting camps made for the yatries.
Last year's devastating floods, followed by recent terror incidents have created a sense of fear among pilgrims but neither state nor central government trying to remove that fear. Instead of creating confidence among devotees, officers of the security forces are repeatedly giving statements about threats to the Yatra.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is himself visiting on the first day of the Yatra is a clear indication that Union Government is trying to create confidence among pilgrims but BJP ministers in J&K have not taken any concrete steps to encourage pilgrims. There is need to mobilize devotees from Jammu and Kashmir to participate in the Yatra.
Credible sources said that Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh has decided to himself perform darshan on the first day of the Yatra to give a message to the devotees all over the country that Centre will provide fool proof security to them.
