Bivek Mathur Early Times Report JAMMU, June 30: Admitting lacunae in the arrangement for the Annual Amarnath ji yatra, Choudhary Sukhnandan, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Department said that the present regime has failed to live up to the expectations of the people in providing proper facilities during the upcoming Amarnath yatra. Choudhary was addressing media men; pilgrims here at Bhagwati Nagar base camp and Ram Mandir, Purani Mandi ahead of Shri Amarnathji yatra scheduled to start from July 2 this year. "Hum logon ko woh suvidha nahi de pa rahe hai jiski logon ko humse tabakko thi k is baar BJP government aayi hai (We have failed to provide those facilities to the people which they were expecting from the coalition government after BJP came to power in the state)", said Choudhary Sukhnandan. He said, "there are still some problems as far as conduct of yatra this year, but I have visited the Chandanwari, Pahalgam situated base camps few days back and given my contact numbers to all the pilgrims, other officials posted there to contact me in case of any problem". On replying a media query regarding non-availability of the cloak rooms to the pilgrims, he said, the matter will be taken up with the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) immediately. Replying another question about the status of the artificial lake, he said the work on the lake is in progress and visible to all the Jammuites. "Gates will be installed after the completion of embankments around the Tawi river", he said. Reacting to the statement of PDP Member Parliament (MP), Muzaffar Hussain Baig that Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is not happy with the coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir, Sukhnandan Choudhary took a jibe at the former Deputy Chief Minsiter and said, "It might be possible that Mr. Muzzafar Hussain Baig has not been given the choicest cabinet birth". |
