Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 30 : Within two months of the ongoing season, the State Sports Council has closed the only competition swimming pool in the state at MA Stadium, here for the second time to execute some repairs. The pool was locked yesterday after some trainees complained of poor quality of water. "Yes, we have closed the pool for two days so as to fully clean the water. Since there was heavy rush of trainees at the swimming pool, the filtration plants were unable to deliver. Ultimately, it was decided in a meeting held yesterday to close the facility for at least two days," said Sports Officer of the Sports Council, Rajan Sharma. Since, the swimming pool was opened for public after three years, the over enthusiast Jammuites thronged the facility in a big number. Presently, the number of those registered trainees at swimming pool has crossed the 350 mark. In view of lack of information to the trainees (about closer), except for a notice pasted at the entrance of the pool, a number of young men and women visiting the venue looked visibly sad. "They are government organization. They charge fee from us, so they must inform us through print and electronic media about the pool closer. The Sports Council has no right to waste our time on one pretext or the other," said a young trainee of the evening shift. Important to mention here that the State Sports Council, with having little technical know how, has outsourced the maintenance of the swimming pool to the same agency that constructed the facility. |
