Jammu, June 30 : Officers and staff of Vigilance Organization accorded warm send off to one of its senior officers Jagdish Lal Sharma, who superannuated from Police Service today. According to press release, Sharma's Police career spanning 31 years has been an illustrious one with his significant contribution towards uprooting militancy from the districts of Kishtwar and Reasi and effectively managing law and order crisis in Samba and Kathua districts where he served as District SSP. For his role in elimination of a large number of terrorists and surrender of more than 50, he was decorated with Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG), Sher-i-Kashmir Medal for Gallantry, Ist Bar to PMG, besides President's Police Medals for Distinguished and Meritorious Services. Sharma, who also did a United Nations stint in Kosovo in 2000-2001, has remained a very popular police officer whose public relations were always looked up to as exemplary. His posting covered almost all important tasks of Police. The senior officers and the staff of the Vigilance Organization described him as an effective and cordial leader whose service would be greatly missed. |
