A new diplomatic move from Pak
7/1/2015 10:12:23 PM
Islamabad is adept in trying to pose
itself as a saint opposed to anyone com
mitting sins. During the last over 30 years Pakistan, its Army and the ISI have been interfering in the internal affairs of India to the extent that it has been exporting terror to India, first in Punjab and then in Jammu and Kashmir. During all these years the establishment in Islamabad, the ISI and other agencies have been funding separatists in the Kashmir valley and those trying to prop up anti-India forces in other states. New Delhi has simply condemned it and have conveyed its resentment to Islamabad with the hope that Pakistan would respond by giving up its support to the export of terror to India. What is amazing is the way that terrorists sailed from Pakistan and carried out mayhem in Mumbai in 2008.And as far as the story of carnage is concerned Pakistani agents have been on the top of this game in Jammu and Kashmir during the last 25 years. Imagine more than 40,000 people have been killed alongwith several thousand security personnel in the militancy related turmoil and incidents of violence.
Despite the fact that New Delhi furnished documentary evidence against Hafiz Saeed and Zakir-ur-Rehman Lakhvi for their involvement in Mumbai terrorist strike Pakistan has remained unmoved. Notwithstanding repeated pleas from New Delhi for initiating action against these two extremists no action was taken. In case of Lakhvi the establishment in Islamabad failed to file an appeal against the court order setting Lakhvi free. And Hafiz Saeed enjoys full freedom of speech and movement in Pakistan after the courts and the Government termed the evidence furnished by New Delhi against Lakhvi and Saeed insufficient for their arrest. And instead of setting its house in order Pakistan plans to drag India to the UN for alleged interference in its affairs after a news report claimed India has been helping the Muttahida Qaumi Movement with funds and training to create unrest in Karachi. Pakistan's ambassador to the United Nations Dr Maleeha Lodhi is in Islamabad for consultations with the government contemplating action against India in the UN for alleged interference
What is amazing and interesting is the way Islamabad took cognisance of a BBC report and slept over the evidence submitted by New Delhi against Lakhvi and Saeed. Islamabad seems to have, this time, trusted a BBC news report when in the past Pakistan Government has ridiculed BBC for airing baseless stories. In fact Islamabad was trying to use the BBC report for dragging India to the UN for funding the MQM. The issue came to light after a recent BBC report alleged that India provided funding for MQM party which lords over financial capital Karachi. India has rejected the claims as "completely baseless". MQM has also denied receiving any funds from India with its founder and chief Altaf Hussain vehemently rejecting the claim that his party had any connection with India's external intelligence agency RAW. It seems New Delhi's denial and the one from the MQM has no value for Islamabad because by dragging India to the UN on charge of interfering in the internal matters of Pakistan Islamabad was simply trying to cover its overt and covert support to terrorists operating in Jammu and Kashmir. It is hoped that once the issue of India's alleged funding of the MQM figured in the UN the Secretary general and other senior officials of the UN ask Pakistan to comment on India's allegations on continued moral, material and diplomatic support Islamabad has been providing to militants operating in Jammu and Kashmir and in other Indian states .
