Cop booked for misappropriation of Sapphire, gets bail from court

Kishtwar, July 1: in a latest development of expose of Sapphire Smuggling which indicated unholy nexus of Sapphire Smugglers and some black moles within police, the Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) presently posted at Police Station Kishtwar who was booked for misappropriation of Sapphire recovered from a smuggler held on Saturday evening, today got bail from the local court.
Pertinent to mention, acting on a tip off about smuggling of precious Sapphire pieces from Paddar to other parts of the country, Kishtwar police laid a nakka on Kishtwar-Paddar road on the outskirt of Kishtwar town and apprehended one person identified namely as Abdul Gani son of Ahmdoo Rather of Teller Marwah presently at Sangrambata Kishtwar and after police recovered 31 pieces of Sapphire from his possession.
After recovering Sapphire from the possession of Abdul Gani, police registered an FIR No. 100/2015 U/S 4/5 Sapphire Act and started further investigation to ascertain involvement of other persons.
Meanwhile during the course of investigations, it comes to the notice of senior police officers that an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) namely as Mohammad Iqbal misappropriated the quantity of Sapphire i.e. mentioned only 22 pieces instead of 31 sapphire pieces recovered from the possession of sapphire smuggler. Accordingly a case was registered against him FIR 101 u/s 409 RPC at Police Station Kishtwar against the said ASI, police sources said.
They said it was only the directions of senior police officers, the accused cop was frisked and missing nine pieces of Sapphire were recovered from the possession of accused Mohammad Iqbal. Meantime the accused police personal was arrested on the direction of SP Kishtwar today got bailed out by the Kishtwar court.
Meanwhile the sources informed the "Early Times" that the police personal on whose input Kishtwar police manage to arrest the Sapphire smuggler was also allegedly involved in the same business, added that the arrest of Sapphire smuggler Abdul Gani was the outcome of the dispute between the informer police personal and arrested smuggler. The sources said that the said police personal who act as a source have accumulated huge moveable and immoveable property through Sapphire Smuggling business which also needs to be investigated to unravel the holly nexus of Sapphire Smugglers and police personnel.
It is pertinent to mention that world famous mines of Paddar Sapphire are located at the height of over 15000 ft above sea level and mines mostly remained covered with snow for more than eight months as there is no proper security system local peoples with the help of some tainted Police personnel manning these mines smuggle some sapphire pieces as per their convenience. This is not an isolated case as many a time such smuggling bids have been foiled in past also.
