'You will continue to remain CM'

Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 1: The state Congress has extended its support to Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in case he breaks the tie up with the BJP.
"Even at present, we are ready to accord our external support to Mufti and he will continue to remain (CM). What everyone wants and yearns in J&K is that this coalition of BJP and PDP must end as it has failed the people and undermined the aspirations of the voters," state Congress chief G.A. Mir told a news agency here.
Mir said that everyone in the state understands that "not even a single promise made to the people ahead of polls has been fulfilled by the present regime and that whatever assurances were given to the masses are proving to be a hoax."
"In the name of rehabilitation cruel jokes are being made with the flood sufferers. Irony is that peanuts are given to the victims in the name of relief and this government beats the trumpet of delivering the governance on ground," said Mir.
He said Mufti has to "one day withdraw support as it has become inevitable for this coalition to wind up the office. I can tell you that if Mufti has to withdraw support, why not now? What for is he waiting? Mufti Sahib resign, we will support you and you will continue to remain the CM."
Mir said the sole purpose of the Congress in supporting Mufti is that the party wants to stop the march of RSS and other communal elements into J&K.
"We want to tell Mufti Sahib that there are others states in India wherein there is a non-BJP government. Aren't they functioning in a normal way? Why such a misconception in being created that without BJP in the government, J&K would cease to exist. See the promises it made in New Delhi. See what the plight of return of power projects is. The dialogue with separatists continues to remain a distant dream and no one in the government is talking about the plight of people who continue to suffer as government has failed completely on ground," Mir said.
He added that already there are voices within the PDP which openly speaking against the alliance with the BJP. "We have seen the statements coming from Tariq Karra and Muzaffar Hussain Beigh. Everyone here wants to end this unholy nexus of BJP and PDP. It is the jungle raj here and Mufti Sahib must come forward to end this anarchy at an earliest," Mir said.
He said Mufti made a big blunder of his life by joining hands with the BJP. "Mufti Sahib would rebuke himself for his entire life for the decision he has made, but early the best-he should withdraw support from BJP as all promises turn out to be a mere hoax. Congress will support him and the coalition will run in a most successful way."
