Early Times Report
jammu, July 1: The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jammu Prof R D Sharma has ostensibly ignored the directions of the JU Chancellor Governor N N Vohra and has posted five blue eyed officials without following the required procedure.
Early Times has learnt the Governor Vohra had directed the VC to conduct interview for administrative positions through selection committee. However, Prof Sharma, sources said, ignored the directions and elevated Prof Keshav Sharma as Registrar, Jai Kumar Director CDC, Sanjeev Mahajan Controller Examination and Neeraj Sharma as Officer on Special Duty at Vice Chancellor's secretariat without taking the selection committee into confidence.
Sources said the adhocism is prevailing in the university for years, and posts are being filled on contractual basis. "Blue eyed candidates who were elevated by the Vice-Chancellor are acting like his puppets," they added.
Like his predecessors, incumbent VC, sources said, preferred to appoint his close aide to top posts, instead of following the Governor's order.
Elevated as Director, CDC, former in-charge law section of varsity, Jai Kumar Sharma had filed a writ petition in the court against JU, including Vice-Chancellor and Registrar.
"He (Jai Kumar) had filed a writ petition against the University, seeking appointment against the post of Director Development Council in the University of Jammu Vide Notice advt dated 8-August-2007. Despite the fact that the Jai Kumar dragged the University to the court he was given post of In-charge legal cell of the varsity in 2013 by the then Vice chancellor MPS Ishar", sources said, adding that he somehow managed to get close to Prof R D Sharma and he has been rewarded with a plum position this time around.
Former additional Controller Examination Sanjeev Mahajan who has been elevated as Controller Examination had also dragged Varsity administration to the court.
