Early Times Report jammu, July 1: Despite clearance of the list of corrupt officials by Chief Minister and Chief Secretary, a few among those whose services have been terminated, tried their best to get their names deleted from the list. According to the official sources, some top BJP leaders and ministers remained active today in the Civil Secretariat at Srinagar making last ditch effort for saving their tainted men in Government services. A top BJP leader, holding important constitutional position in the present Government, secretly called a senior officer of General Administration Department and sought help to get Kamal Mahendru's name deleted from the list of dead wood, sources said. The BJP leader, sources added, allegedly tried to convenience the GAD officer by Hook or by Crook for some relaxation to Kamal Mahendru, Additional commissioner Provident Fund, against whom action was demanded a number of times by Mohd Yusuf Tarigami in the State Assembly for his corrupt practices. Similarly, a senior BJP minister rang up from Jammu and tried to influence the GAD officials for some changes in the list. On the instance of this minister, Dr Riyaz Ahmad Dar, Medical Officer in Government Medical Supplies Corporation, who has been declared as dead wood, even created a high voltage drama at the Civil Secretariat this morning. He allegedly threatened some GAD officials of fire consequence for including his name in the list of dead wood, eyewitnesses told the Early Times. Not only the BJP ministers, sources said, a few GAD officials also tried their best to save their men from getting punished but all in vain as Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed had issued strict instructions that no alteration should be made in the list after his approval. While elaborating, sources said that a GAD official from Jammu tried to save Tehsildar Bashir Ahmed, who is also one of those officials, whose services have been terminated by the Government. |
