GRP foils another bid of evading 'Sales Tax', one booked | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 2: Continuing its drive against anti social elements, the GRP Jammu personnel today foiled another bid of sales tax evasion with the apprehension of a trader besides effecting recovery of good which he smuggled without paying tax to Sales Tax department. "The accused has been identified namely as Mohd Ishfaq of Uttar Pradesh, official spokesperson said, Spokesman said that on noticing the suspicious person namely Mohd Ishfaq of Uttar Pradesh at Railway track 95.3 Km, Railway Station Jammu, de-boarding from train alongwith his luggage. "Following the strict directions from Suram Singh, SP (Railways) Jammu, GRP men immediately apprehended the person alongwith consignment in the shape of parcels, he added. "On being asked about tax payment, the said individual failed to give satisfactory reply and also could not produce any relevant documents regarding the said parcels further bringing him to suspicion radar," "On this GRP informed Sales Tax Authority who reached on the spot, seized the goods and made a challan for Rs 3767/-, spokesperson said further adding, "this is the second incident in July and fifth since June this year." |
