Avinash Azad Early Times Report Jammu, July 2: The state government's decision to dismiss 63 tainted employees from service has raised eyebrows, as it appears that the drive against the corrupt is selective. It's argued that if the government was sincere in its intentions, it would have not delayed action against the 18 police officials, including a Superintendent of Police, against whom FIRs stand registered by Vigilance Organization in last five years. Recently, in response to an RTI application the Vigilance Jammu revealed the names of the 18 officials. According to the Vigilance, nine FIRs were registered against police officers from January 2010 to December 2014 in Jammu division. The FIRs stand registered against the following: Then ASP Nowshera, for accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 and two kanals of land from complainant, Girdhari Lal Sharma, Assistant Sub-Inspector, then posted at P/S Akhnoor. ASI, Nayeem Hussain Shah, then posted at P/S Nowshera, for accepting bribe. ASI Ranjit Singh, then posted at P/S Domana, accepted bribe. Amarpaul Singh, then Head Constable posted at IRP-3RD, accepted Rs 4.30 lakh as bribe. Constable, Mohammad Saif, then posted PSO to SDPO Mendhar, accepted bribe of Rs 15,000. Head Constable, Ghulam Nabi Bhat, then posted at P/S Gandoh, accepted bribe of Rs 7,000. Sub Inspector, Rahul Dogra, then posted at P/S Khillani Doda, accepted bribe Rs 20,000, and Inspector Deepak Pathania, the SHO Ramnagar, accepted bribe for release of three innocent persons. Similarly, the anti graft agency registered nine FIRs including against eight individuals and one FIR against officer(s) of a police station in the Valley during the said period. "FIRs against SG Constable Abdul Aziz Mir, Constable Nisar Hajam, Head Constable, Noor Mohammad and Inspector, Ghulam Hassan Kamaal, then posted at Crime Branch Jammu, were registered in 2010 for accepting bribe. FIRs against ASI Nazir Ahmad, then posted at P/S Sumbal, Sub Inspector Ali Mohammad Parray, then posted in Traffic Police for accepting bribe in 2011-12 respectively, and Vigilance also registered an FIR against officers of police station Bandipora for false and fabricated mutation favouring beneficiaries in 2013", the RTI revealed, adding that in 2014 two more FIRs were registered by the Vigilance. "ASI, Abdul Kabir, then posted at P/S Khirbhawani, accepted bribe of Rs 5000 and ASI Mohammad Ramzan Mir, then posted at P/S Zakoora, are among the cops facing FIRs," the RTI revealed. |
