Early Times Report
Jammu, July 3: The Mufti-led government's decision to send home 63 corrupt and deadwood government employees has been taken by many as their honourable exist from the service as the government is silent about the recovery, attachment and forfeiture of properties which many of them have accumulated over the years by indulging in corrupt practices and abusing their official positions. A section of the civil society across the State thinks that big fishes are still free and the list is not complete. As per the list, a few patwaris who were caught red handed in graft cases involving money amounting to not more than 5-10 thousands rupees are sent home whereas one of the top controversial ex-revenue officer who remained posted as Revenue Secretary and alleged involved in multi crore Jagti township scam and despite being recommended RDA against him managed his survival, thanks to his alleged cordial relations with top Vigilance and GAD officials. Similarly, many tainted officers from Industries, SICOP, JAKFED, Relief, JKPCC, LAWDA, Rural Development, Revenue etc managed to keep their names out of the initial list submitted by the Vigilance to GAD in December 2014. Further, police department is virtually not touched and except one Inspector, names of other junior most officials are not even heard of. On the one hand, junior rung officers involved in trap cases involving a few thousand rupees are shown exist door on the other hand, big fishes have not been touched. In May 2013, one constable of J&K police had leveled serious allegations of corruption against an IPS officer. An FIR stands registered against the said IPS officer in Vigilance Organisation. Similarly, many police officers having huge properties and palatial buildings at Channi Himmat, Sainik Colony, Sunjwan, Sidhra, Tawi Vihar, Batote, Ramban, Peer Bagh, Tulsi Bagh etc are untouched creating doubt on the impartiality of the list. Even many tainted Inspectors of 1993, 1995 and 2000 batch have benami properties at Thandi khui, Domana, Kana Chak, Chowadhi, Kud, Batote and Katra but list is completely silent about them as Vigilance, CID and crime Branch could not identify these corrupt officers whereas almost everyone in the department is aware of their benami properties. |
