Early Times Report

Jammu, July 3: The gun factory owners have been continuously influencing their workers to withdraw their demand of monthly salary and forcing them to opt for the previous system of per piece rate.
Sources told Early Times that the touts of gun factory owners are very much active to forcibly convince the workers not to accept minimum wages system as the same is not in their favour.
"Some groups of people backed by gun factory owners are consistently approaching workers to wash their mind by spreading misinformation about the disadvantages of work on monthly salary. They are creating confusion saying the gun factory workers that they could not be able earn as much money as they used to earn per price rate system," they alleged.
Sources further informed that the workers had to work at least 12-13 hours at a stretch forcibly by the owners to meet their demands by the suppliers in the state and outside but during slump period the workers had to remain jobless.
"The owners know this fact very well that if workers are employed on monthly salary then they cannot force them to workers overtime and moreover they will have to pay them double salary for overtime so they are continuously trying to convince the workers by disseminating wrong information about the minimum wages system," they informed.
Sources said that some workers have claimed that they are being intimidated in the garb of not clearing their pending dues and also threatened them that their leave salaries which are pending for the last two years will not be cleared at any cost. They further informed that the dejected employees of gun factories are feeling betrayed by their owners in the garb of agreement. "Giving a damn to the agreement, the owners are not honoring the agreement by not conceding their demands in letter and spirit," they said.
