Matricide shocker: Youth allegedly kills his step-mother

Anantnag, July 4: In a shocking and bizarre incident which left tongue wagering across the town, a youth in a fit of rage allegedly killed his stepmother during a scuffle here on Saturday in Lalan-Ganoor area of Anantnag district of Kashmir.
Quoting family members, the sources here today said that the youth identified as Suhail Ahmad Chopan (19) had some heated argument with his stepmother over a tiff this afternoon which later took ugly turn when the youth allegedly in fit of rage attacked the lady with a sharp knife and inflicted serious injuries killing her."
"Deceased identified as Shameema sustained critical injuries during the scuffle," sources said. They said that injured was immediately shifted by neighbours, to District Hospital Anantnag where doctors declared brought her dead.
They said, the "the deceased Shameema (45yrs) got married with Ghulam Nabi Chopan two years ago after his first wife died a natural death. "Ghulam Nabi Chopan had two sons Mohd Rafiq Chopan and Suhail Ahmad Chopan from his late wife, however has no issue from the second wife. "Both foster sons i.e. Mohd Rafiq Chopan and Suhail Ahmad Chopan had nourished some grudges against their stepmother since the day one of her marriage with their father and the family was witnessing family disputes since then, sources said.
"We have been witnessing many a times such kind of scuffles in the family. Both the sons of Ghulam Nabi were not sharing good relations with their stepmother," a neighbor recalling from the recent past said.
Another family members alleged, "At around 1:00pm today Suhail had an argument with his stepmother and in a fit of rage youth allegedly stabbed his step mother with a knife.
Meanwhile Anantnag police has registered an FIR u/s 302 against the accused and have started investigation.
A senior police officer briefly said, "We have picked up some male members of the family and are hopeful to crack the murder case.
