Early Times Report
Jammu, July 4: Former Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma is allegedly facing life threat from his son Rajneesh Sharma alias Mian, who is also holding the post of co-treasurer of Congress.
Refuting the allegations, Mian said that his father was innocent and alleged that the family of his brother Subash Sharma was greedy.
According to a complaint lodged with SSP, Kathua, on June 8 last by Mangat Ram Sharma, it has been alleged that Mian, with a criminal intention, entered into his house and started abusing and also threatened by taking out his revolver.
"I will kill you at any time or anywhere when time comes," Mian said, as alleged by Mangat Ram Sharma in the complaint.
The complaint further reads: "Mian is a very criminal person and having links with criminal persons in the society and he also gave the threat, I will kill you (Mangat Ram) and your son Subash Sharma and grandson Nitin Sharma by some criminal persons, in front of family members."
Mangat Ram Sharma, who had joined Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before assembly elections, further alleges that due to life threats from Mian, there was a lot of apprehension that he would kill him, Subash and Nitin.
"A security arrangement for protection of the complainant being former deputy CM is required from the side of your worthy self and also sealed home of applicant at Bani with barbed wire to ensure security of applicant, son and grandson," the complaints says.
Mangat Ram has also humbly asked the SSP to deal with Mian under law. It is also alleged that Mian has filed a false case against him, Subash and Nitin in the court of Munsiff Bani, which is subjudice.
Talking to Early Times, Mangat Ram Sharma admitted that he had submitted an application to SSP office, following the threatening by his son Mian, to him, his son Subash and grandson Nitin Sharma.
Refuting the allegations, Mian said that for the last nearly six months he had not met his father as the family of Subash Sharma had restricted everyone to meet father and the question of threatening didn't arise.
"If I had threatened by showing revolver, why not an FIR was registered at concerned police station on the same day", he questioned.
"My father is innocent but on the instructions of my greedy brother Subash Sharma and his family, he is taking such steps", he said, adding that after the death of his mother, the downfall of his father and family started.
"Till my mother was alive, we were a happy family and when she fell ill, Subash and his family came closer to my father and their greedy eye was on the family property. My father remained with Congress when the tide was against the party. So I had also joined Congress to follow father's footsteps but on the instructions of my brother, he joined PDP to everyone's surprise", he said.
He said that he had no intentions to get property but when the land of mother was illegally transferred on father's name and later to Nitin, it forced him to move court.
Pertinently, nearly two months back, Mian had filed a case of fraud against his father, elder brother Subash and nephew Nitin in the court of Munsif, Bani.
The bone of contention between father son duo is a land measuring 4 kanals 14 marlas at Bani which was said to be in the name of Mian's mother Dayawanti (now dead) but it was gifted to Nitin by Mangat.
SHO of Bani police station, Shamsher Lal said that though they had not received any orders from the SSP office, already three policemen were guarding the residence of Mangat Ram at Bani.
