| Pak must mend ways while seeking talks resumption | | | On one hand Islamabad continues to swear in the name of cordial ties with New Delhi,on the other hand it provides logistic support,moral and material assistance to groups of militants for crossing into Jammu and Kashmir.If on one hand Pakistan makes a strong plea for resumption of stalled process of dialogue,on the other it does not shy away from supporting its soldiers engaged in resorting to ceasefire violations on the LOC and the IB in Jammu and Kashmir.
It is no longer secret that these ceasefire violations by the Pakistani troops and the Rangers were being committed simply for carving out a passage for militants who are keen to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir for raising the level of violence.In fact during the last one year of BJP Government in India the level of ingress bids have increased and so have the number of ceasefire violations.What seems to be funny is the way Islamabad tried to use the recent BBC news report suggesting that Indian intelligence agencies were funding the MQM in Karachi for escalating the level of violence and political instability despite the fact that both the MQM leadership and New Delhi had described the reports as baseless. And while advocating the need for resumption of India-Pakistan dialogue for settling all bilateral issues Islamabad has not taken any step for winding up the training camps where militants were being imparted training in the handling of arms and ammunition.Instead of discouraging militants from crossing into Jammu and Kashmir Islamabad and the Pakistan Army have been providing all possible help to the militants for sneaking into Jammu nd Kashmir.The result is that the Indian troops,guarding the LOC,and the BSF,deployed on the IB, have intensified their vigil and round the clock patrolling on the border to prevent militants from crossing into the Indian territory.As part of their counter infiltration plan troops killed at least five rebels when they tried to sneak into the Indian side of the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. A soldier too was killed in the gunbattle.The incident took place in the Uri sector of the Baramulla district when Indian troops "noticed suspicious movement on our side of the LoC on Friday.Some of the guerrillas might have fled back after their infiltration attempt was foiled.
According to senior Army functionaries between 200 to 250 militants are operating in Jammu and Kashmir and more than 400 militants,equipped with sophisticated weapons and high grade explosives,have been brought on the launch pads across the LOC and the IB.
The purpose of bringing these militants on the launch pads was to push them into the Indian territory for raising the level of violence in Jammu and Kashmir. Under these circumstances it may not be possible for New Delhi to resume talks with Islamabad.
Even if talks were resumed they may be mere formalities being fulfilled by New Delhi.And if Pakistan sincerely wishes for promoting friendly ties with India it should stop using its territory for exporting terror to India wh ich is the first condition laid down by New Delhi for the resumption of the process of dialogue.
Of late the UN and the US too have favoured resolving bilateral problems through talks between New Delhi and Islamabad but talks can begin at any time provided Islamabad initiates measures for making atmosphere conducive for talks.Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has made it clear that "talks and terror cannot coexist" and this is what Islamabad has to remember. |
