Early Times Report Jammu, July 5, \Residents of a number of localities in Jammu district today accused the BJP-PDP coalition government of ignoring developmental work in the region. In a statement here, a group of residents alleged that not a single developmental work had been initiated in their areas since the formation of the BJP-PDP government and accused it of indulging in political vendetta by halting work started by the previous National Conference-Congress regime. "If it is a political vendetta, then we are helpless. All the development works here had been started by the previous NC-Congress government and now that too have been stopped," Raman Singh, a resident of Ajit Nagar, said. The residents further claimed that developmental works that had been halted due to implementation of model code of conduct for Assembly elections last year have still not been restarted by the new government. "The then BJP candidate, who is now our MLA and the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, had promised to immediately start the developmental work in our colony but no work has been started so far," Amardeep Singh, a resident of Jewan Nagar, alleged. The residents also claimed that several roads in the district were in a dilapidated condition, dotted with a number of potholes. "There is no road here but only potholes and the government seems to be least bothered," Prem Kumar, a resident of Ajit Nagar, said. Baljeet Kour, a resident of Raina colony, said the electricity situation of the area was no different as electric poles that were installed in her area a year ago were still not fitted with wires. |
