Early Times Report

Srinagar, July 5: Failure of the BJP ministers to live up to the expectations of the common masses and they unable to build a cordial relationship with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is showing on the performance of the coalition government.
Sources told Early Times the alleged "unprofessional attitude" of the BJP ministers and they not taking any interest in the administrative issues has disappointed the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. "The Chief Minister recently apprised the union Home Minister Rajnath Singh about the shortcomings of the BJP ministers," sources said.
They said the Chief Minister told Singh that BJP ministers have to act responsibly to ensure the present regime is able to deliver what it had promised to people before 2014 assembly polls.
Sources said that a few PDP leaders told Rajnath Singh that BJP ministers have failed to act as a single unit and they rarely meet each other to discuss the important issues. "Infighting within the BJP camp is taking toll on the performance of coalition. Whenever we have tried convening a meeting to discuss important issues BJP ministers have expressed their inability to attend on one or other pretext," said a PDP insider.
He claimed that BJP ministers hold vital portfolios and they have to learn to accommodate all the views before taking the policy decisions. "It's strange that BJP ministers cannot sit in one room with each other. They feel suffocated in presence of each other. If the BJP ministers don't learn the tricks of the trade it can put the PDP-BJP coalition in a tight spot," the PDP insider added.
He claimed that all the BJP ministers believe that they are senior most members of the party. "They have to elect someone as their leader and have to repose their faith on him. At present all the BJP ministers seem to be heading in different directions," the insider added.
Sources said that PDP leaders are closely watching what BJP ministers are doing. "No one can deny the fact that PDP and BJP are the two wheels of the coalition and both the parties have to run the government collectively. We can't have two wheels moving in different direction," the sources added.
They said the BJP high command has taken a serious note of the issues and concerns raised by the PDP leaders. "The Party President Amit Shah has summoned the BJP ministers and other leaders to Delhi next week to know exactly what is happening. Issues raked by the PDP leaders and even the BJP leaders who met Rajnath Singh in Srinagar during his recent visit to the state are likely to be discussed in the forthcoming meeting of the BJP party bearers in New Delhi," sources added.
Pertinently, senior PDP leader and Member Parliament Muzaffar Hussain Beigh had recently claimed that Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is not happy with the coalition and PDP may reconsider its decision to carry on with the alliance with the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources said that Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh during his recent visit to Jammu and Kashmir assured the Chief Minister that centre would provide all the possible assistance to the state and BJP ministers would be told in clear terms to either "perform or perish."
