7/6/2015 11:15:15 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, July 6: Warning the BJP that people of Jammu region would take to extreme means after July 20 to get its demands fulfilled, chairman of the AIIMS Coordination Committee (ACC) and president of JKHCBA, Jammu, Abhinav Sharma on Monday asked the BJP to implement its written assurance on AIIMS latest by July 20. The people of Jammu region will punish the BJP in case it failed to fulfil its commitment that it would obtain the necessary orders from the Government of India for the setting up of AIIMS in Jammu by July 20,he said while addressing hundreds of civil society members at Brahmin Pratinidhi Sabha, Jammu, adding that the patience of the people of Jammu region is ending very fast. The meeting was chaired by the president of Brahmin Sabha and attended by many caste and community leaders, besides leaders of various business markets, intellectuals and opinion makers.
Abhinav Sharma said that the BJP would commit a serious mistake if it takes people of Jammu region for granted by not fulfilling its solemn commitment and added it would be in the interest of the party if it conciliated the alienated people of Jammu region by respecting its pledge. The BJP made several promises to garner votes from Jammu region. Influenced by those promises, the people voted for the party en-block. But the BJP disappointed them by throwing into dustbin its vision document 2014 and entered into an alliance with a party that was known for its Kashmir-centric approach. It surrendered almost everything to the PDP. So much so, the BJP reduced Jammu region to a nullity in the all-powerful State Cabinet that takes policy decisions and shapes and moulds the nature of the polity and society, he said, and added that the PDP-BJP agenda of alliance has not gone down well with the people of Jammu region. He informed the gathering that the movement in favour of AIIMS has been evoking tremendous response from across the region and that he was quite hopeful that the authorities would deliver the promise within the stipulated period to avoid the impending crisis. Speaking on the occasion, president of Brahmin Pratinidhi Sabha Ved Prakash Sharma said that not only his organization but all the Jammu-based social organizations are fully behind the ACC, as the issue of AIIMS is very close to their heart. The people of Jammu region are not only fighting for the AIIMS, they are also fighting for their self-respect, he said, adding that he has no doubt whatsoever that the people Jammu region would come out victorious like before.
Prominent among others who also addressed the civil society members included Deepak Aggarwal, vice-president Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Deepak Aggarwal, Amar Khastriya Rajput Sabha president Narain Singh, Prof Hari Om, former CCI, Jammu president, Y V Sharma, Mangu Ram Sharma, President Brahman Sabha Akhnoor, Vinod Gupta, President Central Mahajan Sabha, Peeran Ditta, President Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Narayan Singh, president Shri Amar Kashtriya Rajput Sabha, Vijay Gupta President Kanak Mandi Traders Association, Ashok Khajuria, General Secretary, Patel Bazaar Fattu Chowghan Traders Association, Rajiv Chuni, Chairman SoS International, K V Jandial (Retd IAS), Dr C L Gupta, S C Dass Sharma, Shiv Ram Sharma, Jaganath Sharma, Nanak Chand Sharma, Dr Khem Raj and Sardar Charanjit Singh.
