JAMMU, July 6 : Gandhi Global Family (J&K) paid rich tributes to former Deputy Prime Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram on his death anniversary in a memorial programme held at Lawrence Public School, Jammu here today. Speaking on occasion, Padmashri S P Varma, Vice President Gandhi Global Family described late leader one of the prominent Dalit leader, front runner freedom fighter who popularly was known as 'Babuji' and had held key positions in union cabinet. Paying rich tributes Mr Verma said that Babuji has left an indelible mark in the history of the country as a fervent champion of the cause of backward and marginalized stratum of the society. He exhorted to follow Babu ji's ideology towards developing an egalitarian society. Manish Joshi Director LPS in his address said that Babuji remained a strong follower of Mahatma Gandhi and participated in freedom struggle and in post independence era, Babuji remained embedded to Gandhian concept of Sarwodhya and strived to bring in a just society and empowering the underprivileged. Among otrhers who also paid tributes to late leader were Vikram Gujral, Mohd Farooq Mughal, Bhanu Pratap Singh, Ghulam Khan, Sahil Sharma, Adil Chaudary, Ankur Dutta, S Manmeet Singh and Rohit Sachdeva. |
